Are you living the life you want to live?

Have you ever woken up and thought ‘Urgh’ at the thought of another day as you?

Woke up to a brand new day and had the feeling that you didn’t want to waste any more time being who you are?

Maybe you woke up and thought I don’t want to be fat anymore?

Or I don’t want to do this job anymore?

Or I don’t want to live like this anymore?

Maybe it’s a creeping dissatisfaction with life… your life.

A dissatisfaction with your work, your relationships, your health, your body.

A sense that time is galloping forward and you’re still stuck in the same ole, same ole.

Nothing changes, it doesn’t get much better and it doesn’t really get worse, but it’s not good enough to feel good.

And you get up and you put the face on you use to mask how you feel and you just get on with doing whatever it is you have to do.

And most of the time you don’t even think about the fact that you’re not content with your life, it is what it is, right?

Everyone feels like this, don’t they?

Lost, alone, angry, hurt, or just plain bewildered at this being all there is.

Get up, feel blah.

Go to work, feel blah.

Come home, feel blah.

Repeat, endlessly.

Sure, there are some high points. Watching tv or out for a drink with friends or a successful day when everything went right.

But if you were asked if you feel content and satisfied with your life most of the time, what would you say?

Some of the time?

All of the time?

Occasionally?

Never?

Unless you answered all of the time, then you’re not living life to its fullest potential.

Because even in the hardest of times, we can still be content with life.

How?

Because we are being all of who we are, showing up as ourselves in the deepest, truest sense. That’s the greatest source of satisfaction there is. Knowing that every moment of life you are being you.

No masks, no pretence, no blah.

When you are connected to the truth of yourself, you fully live and feel every moment. Even boredom can be exquisite when you fully embrace feeling it.

We are so wrapped up in our thoughts all the time and forget that our body is experiencing every moment we live too.

Waking up – just think of how miraculous that is. Your body stirring from sleep into full awareness of the room, the day. Imagine spending those first few moments in awareness of your body.

Do you need to stretch? What can you feel on your skin? Are you cuddled up, warm and cosy in your duvet? Maybe a foot is stuck out and you can feel a coolness on that part of your body, a welcome contrast to the warmth of the rest of you.

Are you thirsty? Need to go to the bathroom? Maybe your neck and shoulders need a gentle rotation to ease out any kinks and stiffness you gathered whilst sleeping?

Stay in your body and not up in your head during these first few moments of the day. Don’t start thinking about all you have to do today, or how awful it all is… instead think and feel into the miracle of who you are and this amazing body that heals and renews whilst you sleep.

And throughout the day, connect to that thought. ‘I’m a miracle. I’m a fucking miracle!’

There’s a new trendy therapy going around that’s all about being embodied. Simply put, it means being in your body, feeling the sensations as they are arise before they reach the brain and you label them.

For instance, imagine on your way out of bed, you stub your toe. That registers as a sensation in your toe and the all the nerve cells distributed throughout your body send a signal to your brain. Depending on how severe the signal, your brain then labels it and you have a reaction. If it was Lego you stood on,  then your reaction is going to be pretty intense. But it is simply an electrical/chemical reaction.

That’s kinda impossible to ignore, right?

But how often do you ignore the messages from your body when they are more subtle?

How often do you simply sit and listen to what your body has to tell you?

Most of us wait til our body slaps us with something serious before we pay attention.

But paying attention before it gets to that point is so worth it. Because your body has loads to say, like how its unhappy you’re eating too much crap, or drinking too much or not getting enough exercise or enough sleep.

And if you sit still for long enough, other sensations will start to arise, maybe a twitch in your leg or a swirling in your solar plexus or twinges of pain in your wrist or arms or somewhere.

All these sensations that you’ve not been paying attention to. All these messages your body has been sending that you’ve been ignoring as you rush to keep doing whatever you think is more important.

And as you start to listen and become aware, you develop more awareness of who you are more and more.

And you accept the amazing potential of your body and your mind, the combined awesomeness that adds up to all of you.

And then you don’t think of life as blah anymore because every day is an adventure in being you. And the more curious you become about life lived as you, the more you show up as the person you were born to be.

You weren’t born to be blah. You weren’t created to live a mediocre life of just putting the days in til the end.

You are special. Your existence is necessary. Every day you are on earth is a blessing.

Start living like it.

Start treating yourself as the miracle you really are.

Because you are.

And if you don’t believe it…take a breath.

Think about the amazing miracle of how you draw in air and your body is able to filter in what it needs and release the rest. And that necessary nutrient is then distributed throughout you to every cell in every part of your body through this amazing network of tubes in an amazing fluid that carries all that’s necessary for life and filtrates and cleans as it goes.

And exhale.

Amazing, right?

A freaking miracle.

That’s you.

A freaking miracle.

Your body is just as miraculous as your mind. We often forget that, because we spend so much time spinning in our thoughts.

Listen to your body’s wisdom for a change.

Hear what it has to say, because the changes you need to make are felt in the body first.

Eating crap, your body processes it, stores it, suffers ill effects from it.

Still eating crap and want to stop?

Listen to your body, it will tell you the harm you are doing to yourself and maybe then you’ll stop.

Same with any habit, ask your body if it’s good for you or not.

You’ll get an answer. You just have to learn how to listen and hear what it says.

Everything you need to be whole and healthy, you were born with.

Everything you need to feel good about yourself, you were born with.

Allow your body’s innate wisdom to start guiding you.

You will never have another blah day again.

Love,

Cynthia xx
