Beige food or real food? What you’re eating every day affects your health, start paying attention to this

I have been trying for several years to overcome an autoimmune condition that affects my energy, my breathing and my sinuses quite badly. Stress makes it worse and over the past year, particularly since I moved away from a rather ‘nasty neighbour’ situation that’s improved so much.

What also makes a massive difference is what I eat. I’ve always known this but I still ate the crap food regardless.

Recently I’d been really eating well, lots of salads, healthy grains and occasionally some cheese but mostly healthy, clean food.

Tuesday when I was shopping, the supermarket had a special offer on vegetable pakoras and samosas and I bought them along with onion bhaji because they used to be one of my favourite indulgence foods. I also got some breakfast pastry, a pecan twist and an apple danish.

And I ate it yesterday, the pastries for breakfast, the indian snacks for my dinner and ignored the salad stuff I had in the fridge.

Within an hour my sinuses had flared up painfully, my nose was running, my chest was wheezing and I felt dreadful.

Food matters, what you eat either keeps you healthy or makes you sick. So today, the indian food I hadn’t eaten went into the bin. I’m having a salad later 🙂

Here’s an old blog I wrote about ‘beige food’ a few years back and yes, beige is revolting and I vow to stay conscious about my food choices going round the supermarket and never get sucked into buying crap just because it’s on special offer!
