Is that a weird concept?
That somehow you’re not in the right place. not with the right people, not doing what you feel you’re meant to be doing, not living as you feel you were meant to be living?
I mean you’re living your life, this is how it is, how could it be different?
But don’t you ever feel like you were meant for something more? Something that makes you feel like you were touched by divinity, by soul, by the Universe. That your life matters and means something real.
I’m not talking about daydreams of winning the lottery or winning X-Factor or American Idol or The Great British Bake Off or The Sewing Bee, or some other talent show. Don’t you love how diverse these shows are becoming with art, crafting, sculpting, comedy, sewing, baking and on and on and this diversity is kind of a faded reflection of what I mean.
Its more a knowing that you were meant for something more, more than you’re living now. And that more is different for everyone.
A sense of a seed that’s lying unnurtured, waiting for the right elements to come together to begin to sprout and grow and flourish.
What are you leaving unnourished inside of you?
What are you neglecting?
What have you ignored, pushed down, because it wasn’t practical or useful or a way to a steady income?
The creative side of you needs expression, the childlike side of you wants and needs to play, the curious, the adventurous, all buried and all wanting to be expressed, to be allowed to come out and play in the world with you.
There’s so much to you but are you only allowing the sensible, the dutiful, the responsible, the angry, the sad, the weary parts of you to show up?
The sense of not living the right life is even more than that. Its about being all of you all the time, in the most honest sense of it.
No Pretence.
No Mask.
No Role Play.
Being you – no back-up, no safety net.
Being all of you, all the time. Letting how you live your life demonstrate openly, with the utmost authenticity who you are.
When I was little, I always believed I was someone else’s child, that my family were not my family, that they were looking after me for my real parents and they would be coming soon to take me away. And they were wonderful, my ‘real’ parents, and usually characters out of my favorite books, and usually my fantasy Dad was an Arab prince like Aladdin, and my mum, his princess. I was not a feminist at ten! that concept would have blown my family’s mind lol.
And these fabulous people would sweep in and take me away from my miserable existence to a life filled with palaces and exotic travel and adventure and love.
But most importantly in this fantasy family I would be understood, appreciated and celebrated for all the things my real family couldn’t understand, appreciate and celebrate.
My love of reading, learning and sharing what I’d learned, showing off how much I know. My parents couldn’t understand that and hated me showing off, ‘who did I think I was?’
And that lack of approval stuck and I hid my cleverness, my knowledge, my joy in learning and sharing and I stopped learning, I stopped growing for years as I tried my best to fit in, to change to be what I thought other people wanted, to play my role to the best of my ability – dutiful daughter, girlfriend, friend, colleague.
And it was only when the loneliness, the bitterness, the anger that was inside of me threatened to engulf me totally and I finally started therapy that I started to see that the life I was living wasn’t the life I wanted. I didn’t know what I wanted but I knew what I didn’t want.
Today, that’s the first question I ask my clients, ‘What do you want to happen?’ and it’s astonishing how many people have no idea what they want, they only know what they don’t want.
And that’s where the fun is, learning what you do want. And as you discover what you want, you also figure which parts of your current life you’re living are really you, and which are imposters, things you’re doing and accepting because you think you should.
And every day you think more and more about what you do want and every day you find yourself living a life that’s true, honest, where you’re doing what you were always meant to be doing, living as you were always meant to be living with the right people by your side.
Figure out what you want, truly, deep in your soul and start watering that seed, feeding it what it needs, nourishing and nurturing the soul part of your life and being that you’ve not acknowledged yet.
As you do that, you change, how you feel about yourself and your life changes. Your perception of who you are and what’s important to you changes and its good.
Because now you’re living from truth.
Your truth.
And that makes everything different because you’re different from the inside out. And as you change inside, your outside world changes too.
And maybe you’ll feel like you’ve won the lottery, and X-Factor and The Bake-off because nothing’s better than living authentically. Living as you always meant to and wanted to live.
And you can.
Starting today.
Figure out what you want and think about it morning, noon, and night.
Think about who you want to be and how you want to show up in this world.
And Be it!
Be that best version of you that you’ve been keeping hidden deep inside, watch that seed grow and blossom and flourish as you nurture it with daily attention and focus.
As you blossom and flourish too.
Because life says yes to you, when you say yes to your SELF!
Love,
Cynthia xx
PS. If you’ve been stuck, feeling like you’ve been living the same day over and over and its no fun anymore, if you’ve fought weight issues, depression, anxiety, addiction, or simply a feeling of general dissatisfaction with how your life is unfolding for you, and you feel like you’ve tried everything and nothing has worked. It’s natural to feel that a solution is almost impossible.
That’s part of what keeps the problem in place.
But real lasting change is possible.
Think how it would feel achieving your goals with far less resistance, whether it’s dropping excess weight, gaining freedom from depression and anxiety, being a rockstar in your business or career, or excelling in your personal relationships. You can do it, you have no fears about staying stuck and not moving forward anymore.
See yourself fully present and grounded, living with total fulfillment and satisfaction with how life is unfolding for you, with no regrets, as you carve your own path forward, moving forward always forward, no looking back .
