Same way you eat an elephant! One piece at a time!
How are you feeling today? I don’t have anything clever to say, some might say I never have anything clever to say but with all that’s happening all around the world, I feel like reaching out and checking in.
The war in Ukraine brings a renewed level of horror to us in the West, and yet we mustn’t forget that war, famine, cruelty such as we’re viewing on our screens has been happening in Yemen, Afghanistan, Ethiopia and other places for years. The horror of war never stops.
Destruction of life for military profit is not new, its an ongoing business strategy and has been for hundreds of years. But since Ukraine is closer to home, at the border of Europe and potentially drawing in USA, UK and European countries at an immediate level, we’re paying it more attention.
If you have any empathy, I imagine you’re watching the news feeds in horror and highly sensitive people are going to particularly struggle as every newscast , printed paper and online outlet carries photos and videos of carnage and destruction.
Talking heads commenting about different aspects of the war without divulging their own particular bias and point of interest. Two of the people CNN have as their ‘war experts’ are former Generals from the Pentagon who are also representatives of the military industrial complex being paid by people who make armaments and weapons. Hardly nonbiased in their commentary!
But leaving all that behind, even as we try to tune into our Inner Self and Higher Consciousness, as much as we want to believe in beauty and kindness, it is not always easy when confronted with the darkest side of humanity.
As always, when you feel stuck in fear and doubt, stay present to your current reality and take the smallest step you can take that is within your control. Are you safe where you are? Do you have food and clean water? Have you enough of everything you need right now?
Then you can turn to being of service.
Consider what is your highest value? What are the most important things in your life?
When in fear, when in doubt, turn to love, service and honour. And only that.
Take the best care of yourself, make art, serve those you can serve, be kind to strangers and be patient to those in your closest circle, and know that the smallest things mean the most and they are ENOUGH.
If you’re trying to figure out what to do next? Donate, fund raise, give your time somewhere if you have nothing else to give. Be of service. Help the people in your immediate community and send healing thoughts and prayers to Ukraine.
This week’s Be Your Own LightHouse will be free as we come together to heal, grow our spiritual connection and connect to Truth, Love and Higher Consciousness.
Join us at the usual link, I’ll post it below my signature and if you want to donate, any payments received will be forwarded to Together Rising who are the most awesome people I’ve ever met, they’re already on the ground with aid in Ukraine. You can learn more about Together Rising in the Ukraine here.
Stay safe, send love to all who need it.
