When we make the decision to change; to stop doing whatever that bad habit is that’s impacting your health, your wealth, your relationships; or to step up to taking that new positive action this is going to benefit your health, wealth and relationships, it can feel so good in that moment.
All that positivity flows through us, ‘Hey watch me, I’ve stopped doing that, I don’t do it anymore. I’m starting to take care of myself.’ The new actions might go more like, ‘Look at me go, I’m stepping up, I’m a person who follows through and who keeps their promises, including those to myself.’
Hugely empowering and motivating and off you go into the wide blue yonder, living from these new decisions freshly made.
Because we all know the road to creating a healthier, happier life is littered with good intentions that we’ve abandoned at the first/third/tenth sight of temptation. The path to a new career, new money management, a new sense of affluence is derailed by conspicuous spending on stuff we don’t need or even really want. The plan for a healthier lifestyle torn up in the face of lazy sofa days, junk food and sticking with bad habits.
Its not a lack of motivation that’s the problem. We have that in buckets. loads of it.
All we have to do to top up our motivation levels is think about the life we want to lead; the life where we have X and have stopped doing Y and are living our dreams more than we ever thought possible.
That motivation is still there, the dream is still alive, but it will surely fade if it goes untended and we stay inactive in making it happen.
How do we make it happen? Or maybe a better question is how do we get past our internal resistance to making it happen?
This is where you have to relax and get comfortable as you follow the process of making the familiar – the situation you currently have – unfamiliar and make the unfamiliar – the situation we want but haven’t experienced for any real length of time, if at all – familiar.
The familiar – your current reality/circumstances/situation become unfamiliar when you decide you are unavailable for anything except that which you want.
The unfamiliar – that desired state of being/the dream/your ambitions becomes familiar when you live into it as much as you can. Be that person now, be the person who doesn’t do Y, who lives as though X is on its way, arriving any minute.
Visualising the desired outcome is a hugely beneficial tool to help with this. Use RWID as a guide to making the unfamiliar familiar.
But the absolute best thing you can do is decide to be decide to be that person you want to be. Decide that NOW. See yourself doing the things you know that ideal version of you does every day, and do them as much as you are able to. Stop doing the things you know s/he wouldn’t do.
Be the best version of you that you can be every day.
And every day, improve on it a little bit, 1%. You can do that, we can all do that.
You don’t change your whole world overnight.
But you can change yourself in an instant.
Decide, then do!
Change your thinking and you’ll change your life.
PS. Think what would life be like if your thought processes were upgraded so you became unstoppable. What would life be like if you were able to step up and show up as that best ever version of you that you know you’re capable of?
Picture yourself thriving in life, developing an instinct for making the right choices, knowing in your gut you’re always choosing the correct thing for you.
Imagine any addictions, old anxiety and fear melting away, no longer influencing your thinking, your behaviour, your decisions. You are free to make better choices.
Think how it would feel achieving your goals with far less resistance, whether it’s earning an extraordinary income, being a rockstar in your business or career, or excelling in your personal relationships. You can do it, you have no fears about any of it anymore.
See yourself fully present and grounded, living with total fulfillment and satisfaction with how life is unfolding for you, with zero regrets, as you fearlessly carve your own path forward.
